Emanuele Frontoni, Università Politecnica delle Marche.

Emanuele Frontoni

Received the doctoral degree in electronic engineering from the University of Ancona, Italy, in 2003. In the same year he joined the Dept. of Ingegneria Informatica, Gestionale e dell’Automazione (DIIGA) at the Università Politecnica delle Marche, as a Ph.D. student in "Intelligent Artificial Systems". He obtained his PhD in 2006 discussing a thesis on Vision Based Robotics. At present he has a Post Doc position in the same department (at present named Department of Information Engineering – DII). His research focuses on applying computer science, artificial intelligence and computer vision techniques to mobile robots and innovative IT applications. He is a member of IEEE and AI*IA, the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence. He has several international cooperations with SMEs and companies on innovation and future trends. He published more than 120 papers and was speaker of more than 40 international conferences.

Guy Bisson, Research Director, Ampere Analysis

Guy Bisson

Guy Bisson has more than 20 years’ experience as a leading entertainment market analyst with a specialisation in the global television business. He is a regular speaker and moderator at many of the World’s leading entertainment business conferences, a frequent media commentator and author of numerous reports and research articles on the business and strategy of the television industry. In recent years, Guy has had a particular focus on quantifying and forecasting the impact of OTT television on the traditional media players and has written a series of ground-breaking reports on the topic. Guy previously led the television research practice at Screen Digest and IHS and is now Research Director of Ampere Analysis, a London-based research company with a global focus on television and new media that is combining, for the first time, big data analytics, consumer research and industry analysis.

Tina Osojnik, Master of Law, EMBA, Lecturer, Business coach at European Commision.

Tina Osojnik, master of law, EMBA, has been actively present in the field of intellectual property rights for years and first gained her experiences at the Office for Intellectual Property. There she advised many companies and individuals on the subject of protection, defence and exploitation of intellectual property rights. After that she redirected to private sector where she led the Intellectual property & Brand protection department at Studio Moderna Group – that included leading multi-channel e-commerce and direct to consumer platform in Central & Eastern Europe with a vertically-integrated network reaching more than 400 million consumers across 21 countries, she was primarily active in the area of strategic advertising and effective protection and enforcement of Intellectual property rights, including contractual relationships and due-diligence matters. Currently she is partner in boutique firm JTBD LTD, where she covers strategic intellectual property and international law and offers consultancy services to various international clients. In all her years in the field she worked on projects which included strategic management of brands, patents, information technology, trade secrets in U.S., Chinese, Russian and EU markets. She is also an Expert and Business coach at European Commision, active lecturer at faculties and is also a great mentor to many start-ups in Slovenia.

Emerald de Leeuw LL.B, LL.M, MSc. is the CEO of EuroComply; a software company that helps companies manage GDPR compliance. Emerald is an internationally recognised Data Protection specialist (BBC, Bloomberg, Irish Times) and a regular speaker at events across the globe. She was recently awarded the European Innovator of the Year 2017 award by the European Commission, Parliament and EYIF in Brussels. In addition, she is known as a successful entrepreneur, she mentors startups and is a regular judge at various business competitions. Emerald is a lecturer at the Law Society of Ireland on the Technology Law and Data Protection Courses and she is Harvard Law certified in Intellectual Property.

Tom Bowers is a social TV and viewer engagement specialist and thought leader, having set up his consultancy Connect Four Productions which pioneered with innovation around social TV. Tom has worked with leading media companies and broadcasters including ITV, Channel 4, BT Sport, 4Music, MTV, RTE, Canal+, and TF1 to conceptualise innovative social TV experiences and strategies. He is a leading thinker around social TV, audience and fan engagement, and the role social media plays in driving new sponsorship opportunities. Tom has innovated with shows like The Brit Awards to implement the first global managed service social vote as well as championing the introduction of a swathe of new socially reactive TV ads in the UK.

Founder of Blockchain News, Blockchain Partners, interim CMO at Humaniq & global expert on innovation, Richard Kastelein is an award-winning publisher, innovation executive & entrepreneur who has guest lectured on innovation at MIT Media Lab, Oxford University, & the University of Koln, sat on media convergence panel at EU Digital Assembly in Brussels & run innovation workshops with companies such like BBC, ABC, CBC, NPO, RTL (DE & NL), Eurosport, NBCU, C4, ITV, Liberty Global, Seven Australia, ENGIE & others.

He is a Canadian (Dutch/Irish/English/Métis) whose writing career has ranged from the Canadian Native Press (Arctic) to the Caribbean & Europe. He's written occasionally for Wired Insights, Guardian & Virgin.com & his work & ideas have been translated into Dutch, Greek, Polish, German & French.

In his early 20s, Kastelein sailed around the world & wrote, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Seas'​ on how to travel by hitching rides on yachts in 1989.

Richard Burrell

Best known for his recent role as VP for Corporate Development EMEA at QVC, Richard has over 20 years’ experience in TV and digital retail across 6 markets across the world. Most recently he was the project Director for QVC’s start up in France

Prior to joining QVC Richard's career has spanned the BBC, Thames Television and various television news organizations. Originally and engineer by training hee has also served as a council member of the Digital Television Group (DTG).

Christopher Patrick Peterka (38) is a futurist, an entrepreneur and an investor with 22 years of experience under his belt. He coaches organisations globally on questions relating to the topics of innovation culture and future strategy with the think tanks gannaca and THE HUS.institute. His particular interest is dedicated to the new rules in the economy and society of the Digital Modern era. As a speaker Peterka inspires, surprises and challenges.

Sabine Christmann, LL.M., Lawyer

Sabine Christmann has more than fifteen years of professional experience in international companies in the media- and platform industries. She is a fully qualified lawyer and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). For more than 10 years, Sabine Christmann had been in charge of the “Regulatory & Public Policy” department at pay-TV provider Sky. Since 2015, she provides legal services including consultancy on distribution strategies and regulation. In addition to her consulting work she was appointed in December 2016 as independent Self Regulation Officer for the Electronic Retailing Association Europe (ERA).

Paolo Iacono - graduated in business administration from Bocconi University in Milan - comes from Giocoplast, a leading Italian company specialized in the distribution and commercialization of articles for seasonal festivities, where, since 2014,he has held the position of Managing Director. Previously, Paolo Iacono, worked in other companies, among which we should mention the famous Finnish company Fiskars, for which he directed the Italian subsidiary and the Hasbro toys factory. Moreover he founded and led Atari Italy and worked in major multinational consumer goods companies, such as Unilever and Sara Lee. Since February 1st 2017 he is CEO of HSE24 Italy.

Juergen Sewczyk, Senior Consultant, JS Consult

Juergen Sewczyk

In 2005 Juergen Sewczyk founded a media consultancy and an engineering office. Previously he was employed at the Bertelsmann Group for over 20 years where he was responsible for the RTL program distribution and RTL interactive for about 17 years. As RTL interactive CTO from 2000 to 2005 he established the new media business. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of private and commercial television who introduced the digital TV. Under his guidance the first private satellite transmission was carried out, digital TV was transmitted via a DSL-cable for the first time, the mobile DVB-T world record was set and DVB-T was shown in public transport. Furthermore he has a longstanding involvement with leading positions in the boards of DVB, VPRT and the German TV Platform.

The media consultancy is focused on Smart TV, HbbTV, IPTV and TV Program Distribution. As a member of the board of the German TV Platform Juergen Sewczyk is leading the project team “Smart Media”. Under his guidance a report about the basic requirements of IPTV market participants and a market review about Smart TV had been released.

Andrea M. Michelozzi - TV Journalist

Andrea M. Michelozzi

Andrea M. Michelozzi is a Tv journalist with an international career since 1988. From 1991 to 1994, he was working in CBS as European News Manager in Washington DC. Back in Italy, was involving as News Director in Retemia before Kirch Group has acquired the national tv to convert it in the first shopping tv in Italy. Moved to Rome to continue his director’s role and to became Comunicare Digitale’s President since 2003. The digital association was born to explain the digital revolution in Italy and Europe, beginning with the dtt process in Italy and Spain, starting with the European Digital Forum event in Lucca and established new partnership with broadcasters, media producers, technological platforms, satellite and terrestrial operators, creating the largest digital hub in Europe. He’s working with the main institutions in Bruxelles and Strasbourg, producing a popular program called SETTE 24 Europa, covering the most important event as State of the Union, Sakharov Prize, Journalist’s seminars, Treaty of Rome. He lives in Andalucia, but often travelling in Europe and enjoy his house’s family in Tuscany. Lately, is part of an important group that won an Horizon 2020 tender with the 5G CITY project to develop in Lucca.

In 1998, Klaus Goldhammer founded Goldmedia in Berlin. Goldmedia is a consultation and research group with a focus on media, entertainment, telecommunication, sport and trade. For nearly 20 years, Goldmedia has supported national and international customers of verious industries in all questions pertaining to the digital revolution. Since 2011 Klaus Goldhammer has also worked as professor media economics at the Freie Universität Berlin, Institute for Media and Communication Studies. Klaus Goldhammer studied journalism and economics in Berlin and London.

Lara Comi - European Parliament Committee Member

Lara Comi

Lara Comi, was born on 18 February 1983 near Milan, Italy. She was first elected to the European Parliament in 2009 and is currently a member of the EPP leadership, in her capacity of Vice President of the European People's Group (EPP), where she holds responsibility for youth policy and relations with the Americas and China. Until January 2017, Ms Comi was also responsible for communications and outreach. The 2014-2019 legislature is her second mandate and she is currently one of the youngest Members of the European Parliament.

Ms Comi is member of the European Parliament’s Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) and of the Delegation for Relations with the United States. She is a substitute member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), the Committee for Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), the Committee of Inquiry into Emission Measurements in the Automotive Sector (EMIS) and the Delegation to the EU-Chile Joint Parliamentary Committee.

Roger Colaizzi - Chair of Venable's national Advertising Litigation Group

Roger Colaizzi

Roger Colaizzi chairs Venable's national Advertising Litigation Group. He has significant trial experience in Intellectual Property Rights, including Lanham Act false advertising, state deceptive trade practices, trademark, trade dress, patent, copyright, unfair competition, direct to consumer marketing, social networking, affiliate advertising, and other e-commerce matters. He has successfully brought and defended against dozens of emergency preliminary injunction motions and requests for temporary restraining orders, which are important remedies in competitive advertising and the protection of intellectual property, product brands and other proprietary assets. He has represented clients before regulatory agencies such as the FTC and self-regulating bodies such as ERSP and NAD, and in state Attorneys General investigations.  He also counsels clients in many global brand protection matters. From 2010 to 2016, Mr. Colaizzi was named one of the top advertising litigators by legal guides Chambers USA and Legal 500. 

Maurits Bruggink - Secretary General of EMOTA

Maurits Bruggink

In April 2015, Maurits Bruggink was appointed Secretary General of EMOTA, the European Multi-channel and Online Trade Association. His main task is representing the interests of the sector to policymakers at European level and in Member States.

Maurits has been involved in international advocacy, government affairs and trade association management for over 25 years in different positions. Maurits started as lawyer at the European Union Office of Arthur Andersen & C°, followed by a long spell as Managing Director at Brussels’s based lobby firm Grayling.

Maurits has great experience in managing European and international trade associations. He has been secretary general of several trade associations, covering sectors as diverse as direct selling, spirit drinks, toys, metals, gambling and sports.

Maurits holds a Master in International Trade Law from the University of Leiden, Holland. Maurits is 54 years and is fluent in English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish.

Marco Zullo - 5 Star Movement MEP

Marco Zullo

Marco Zullo was born in Verona in 1978. He was elected to the European Parliament in 2014 with 5 stars movement be part of EFDD group in Europe. He’s member of IMCO commission and is involved in monetary, energy, food topics, to protect consumers and helping European internal market to grow. The last success is represented by the contents portability in Europe, that will permit to watch media content and video all over Europe. Marco is a product manager and he’s living in Trieste.

Alex Kunawicz - Vice President of Strategy and co-founder at Laduma

Alex Kunawicz

Alex Kunawicz is Vice President of Strategy and co-founder at Laduma, where he was the company’s first employee.

He joined from Liverpool FC, where he was Head of Content. Alex previously spent 10 years at the BBC, working as a Senior Producer on global sports news, and covering events such as the World Cup, the Olympics and Wimbledon. He has also worked for Abu Dhabi Media Company and Preston North End FC.

Dr. Julian Oberndörfer - CEO ERA Europe

Dr. Julian Oberndörfer

Julian has represented the Home-shopping Industry in Europe and the Middle East as CEO of ERA Europe since 2013.

Prior to ERA Europe he worked at the German live shopping channel HSE24 where he was Head of Country Management Austria & Switzerland and Vice-President of Media Law, Media Politics and Distribution (MMD), in charge of the multi-channel distribution of Home Shopping Europe’s TV channels. Prior to working in the teleshopping industry, he practiced at a Munich law firm and worked for the Deutsche Bank HQ.

In the past he has presided as Chairman of the Working Committee for Independent Special Interest and Teleshopping Channels within the German TV Association "VPRT" and at ERA Europe he was Chairman of ERA Europe´s Government Affairs Committee and Chairman of ERA Europe’s Board of Directors. He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the European Audiovisual Observatory - Council of Europe and of the multi-channel working committee of the Bavarian chamber of commerce.
Dr. Oberndörfer is the owner of a law firm in the south of Munich, specializing in media and telecommunication law.

Ross Biggam - Vice President Government Affairs EMEA at Discovery

Ross Biggam

Ross is Vice President Government Affairs EMEA at Discovery, which he joined in 2015. Prior to that, Ross was Director-General of the Association of Commercial Television in Europe (ACT) represending media companies active in 34 European territories. He has previously worked as Head of European at ITV, the leading commercial network in the UK and as Legal Officer at the House of Lords EU Select Committee. Ross is also visiting professor in Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Glasgow and a member of the board of the Institut für europäisches Medienrecht (EMR) .

Maria Rua Aguete

Maria Rua Aguete is Director TMT at IHS Markit. She is a media analyst for the global television industry and business and financial data analysis, modelling and forecasting, strategic market consulting and due diligence work. She covers Europe and South America and is involved in consultancy projects for high profile media and technology companies. She holds a Bachelor in Business Administration and Economics from the Universidad de Vigo and a MBA in Economics and Finance from Cardiff University.

Eve Salomon - Council of Europe Expert

Eve Salomon

Eve has significant experience in both statutory and self-regulation. A solicitor by background, she is an international legal expert for the Council of Europe and the author of the UNESCO Guidelines for Broadcasting Regulation. Eve has advised governments, regulatory authorities and international organisations (UNESCO, European Commission, World Bank, Council of Europe) on media-related issues in dozens of different countries.

In the UK, Eve has chaired the Regulatory Board of RICS (the global professional body for surveyors), the Horniman Museum and Gardens, and until 2012 was chair of the Internet Watch Foundation. She is a trustee of Privacy International and a former Press Complaints Commissioner and Gambling Commissioner. In an executive capacity, she worked for the UK broadcasting regulators Ofcom, the Radio Authority and the Independent Television Commission and the broadcasters Capital Radio and Channel 4.
